This hand wrought hammered brass bowl is part of my silversmith designs and collection.
This process involves me shaping the brass metal by repeatedly striking it with a steel hammer against a the hard surface of an anvil.
The metal forming and hamming of flat sheet metal into objects like bowls, is part of an ancient silversmith technique that dates back thousands of years.

The hammered texture covering the outside of the bowl creates a lovely mottled effect, that you can see on the surface, when the light hits it in the right way. Hammered brass bowls often have a warm, golden hue characteristic of the brass metal, which adds to their aesthetic appeal.
